Multi-Cultured Southwest Drapes. Plus, learn where to buy drapery fabrics online:
Southwestern style is influenced by several cultures. These cultures have been merged together to bring a unique decorating style.  Southwest drapes patterns have a Moorish and a Native American influence. The patterns and designs used to make southwest drapes reflects each cultures’ influence.

The most common southwest drapes have patterns such as diamonds, chevrons, stripes and jagged outlines.  Colors are earthy and natural but accented with shades of teal and purple to create a more bold look. Decorating a room with southwest style provides a rustic flare and it also creates a soothing feeling and remembrance of when people were much more in touch with nature.

Lace has become a popular part of southwest drapes although it is not an original southwest style.  Imported fabrics introduced lace.
Cotton and wool are the dominant fabrics for southwest drapes. In order to not block the view of the beautiful terrain where southwest style is popular, traditional southwest drapes were made of sheer, white cotton. Today southwestern patterns are used to make simple drapes.
